About the Opportunity

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, dynamic and ambitious Head of Operations to lead the operational team at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium (SLSA). Everyone knows SLSA is an iconic attraction in Sydney, but it’s become even more special with the recently added $5 million Day and Night on the Reef interactive experience.

Reporting to the General Manager, this role is responsible for all aspects of SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium’s day to day operational performance – from the delivery of amazing and memorable experiences to each and every guest that walks through the doors to achievement of outstanding commercial results. The Head of Operations will be a key player in elevating SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium’s status within aquaria worldwide, ensuring impeccable standards, commercial excellence and the highest quality of health, safety and security.

The Head of Operations role acts as the champion of guest service delivery above all else, and is responsible for setting and driving a culture of ‘guest-first’. They will be able to demonstrate both experience and passion in managing a diverse team, ensuring safety remains fully embedded in the culture of the business and driving commercial results through admissions, retail, food and beverage, and all high yield experiences. As a leader of people, the success of the Head of Operations will come from delivering a highly motivated and engaged team.

About You

• Most importantly, you will have a passion for the underwater world! You will care about protecting our oceans and their creatures, and will thrive on the ability to deliver amazing discoveries and memorable experiences to each and every guest!

• You will have strong leadership and/or management experience, which should have been gained in a complex, multi-functional guest facing and commercial business.

• You are likely to be a current Head of Operations or an Operations Manager within a visitor attraction.  You will possess strong people skills, excellent commercial and financial acumen; and you will have delivered tangible KPI improvements.

• You will be an adept critical thinker and problem solver, with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

• Your standards will be second to none, and you will have a strong aptitude for performance and change management.

• You will be a (calculated) risk taker, exploring options cons
