LEAD ANIMAL KEEPER 

FWAP is a small private, breeding and conservation project situated near Fowey in Cornwall. Not open to the Public, but with occasional on site tours and events. The project is set in the private grounds of the owner’s home.

We specialise in a various Malagasy Euplerids and Felids such as Clouded Leopard and Cheetah. We also work with various other species ranging from Spotted Hyena and Sun Bear to large Asian Hornbills, Birds of Paradise, Cassowary and a few primate species. 

We are looking for a highly self motivated, disciplined individual who is able to work alone or within a very small team.
You will be working directly with the Owners who are hands on.

The position start date is July 15th, 2019. No accommodation is included with the position. The candidate would be required to live within a fairly close proximity to our facility so this needs to be considered for anyone moving from outside of the area.

Main Duties

* DIET PREPARATION, FEEDING, CLEANING  OUT AND PROVIDING ENRICHMENT FOR ALL ANIMAL GROUPS 
   HELD AT THE  FACILITY
* FOLLOW STRICT SAFETY RULES AND SECURITY PROTOCOLS ON SITE.
* MAINTAIN DAILY RECORDS AND FEED SUPPLY MONITORING.
* LIASE DIRECTLY WITH VETERINARIANS AND OWNERS .
* SOME GARDENING AND MAINTENANCE IS ALSO PART OF THIS ROLE.

Candidate Requirements:

* CLEAR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH WILD ANIMALS, IDEALLY FELIDS AND OTHER CARNIVORES.
* MUST HAVE A PASSION FOR THE SPECIES WE SPECIALISE IN AT FWAP.
* EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS.
* ABILITY TO WORK ALONE.
* EXCEPTIONAL STANDARDS OF SAFETY, HYGIENE, ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND CLEANLINESS REQUIRED.
* RELEVANT ANIMAL MANAGEMENT OR KEEPING QUALIFICATION IS PREFERRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL.
* FULL UK OR EU DRIVERS LICENCE AND OWN CAR.
SALARY: £17 - £20,000 Based on experience. Also performance bonus scheme.
WORKING HOURS: 08.00 - 18.00 - 5 DAYS OUT OF 7.
