The Company

Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park was opened to the public in 1970 and was, at the time, one of Britain’s first safari parks. With over 400,000 visitors a year, we are now one of the most popular visitor attractions in Scotland. The park has a strong focus on conservation, education and the local community. We also run a successful fundraising program for conservation “link to the wild”. 

As part of our ongoing development program, we have completely refurbished our sea lion facilities this year and we hope to have these open fully in the Autumn of 2021.

We are currently looking for an experienced and confident sea lion trainer to join our keeper team working predominately with our Californian sea lions.   This position is offered on a full time, permanent basis. Relocation assistance is available to the right candidate.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity working as part of a larger keeper team with primary responsibility for the management, welfare and training of our 3 Californian Sea Lions. You will also be required to deliver our daily programme of sea lion presentations.

Ensuring the safety of our visitors, staff and animals at all times are of key importance and ensuring that health & safety protocols are followed at all times.  

Application Requirements

Sound knowledge (2 years+ experience) of working with sea lions and need to be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of conditioning training methods, health checks, and general sea lion husbandry. 

Strong work ethic and good communication skills.

Hold a full driving licence

An animal-based qualification
