Job role

-The role entails a mixture of animal management and running animal and nature-based encounters. As well as a variety of other activities throughout the year.

-You must have an engaging an outgoing persona to fill this post as you will be delivering talks to guests including large groups such as schools and colleges.

-You will be working with a range of taxa including but not exclusive to bird of prey, reptiles, mammals and ruminants. Ideally the right person will have some practical skills for maintenance and building of enclosures but above all a ‘can do’ attitude.

-We have many work experience and voluntary team members at the farm who require supervision as well as guidance. Which would be incorporated into the role.

-IT and data collection for animal record keeping is ideal but not essential.

- Other duties to support the effective & efficient running of the site (may include acting as Fire Marshall, First Aider, Company vehicle driver and other roles, although full training will be given)

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ full-time experience in a zoological collection, including experience with Category 1 Species
  • An Animal Management related qualification (preferably Level 3 or above)
  • Excellent communication skills (both 1-2-1 and for public speaking)
  • Adaptable for a flexible rota
  • Physically fit for the demands of this role
  • Full UK driving licence
  • In line with the requirements of the Asylum & Immigration Act 1996, all applicants must either be eligible to live and work in the UK or must obtain permits to work in the UK prior to application. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process.
