Living Collections Assistant – Aviculture

 

WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre

37.5 hours per week working 5 days from 7 to include weekends and bank holidays

£20,202 per annum

 

WWT Slimbridge is seeking a proactive and engaging assistant to help support our Aviculture team as we take our next step forward. We are seeking an experienced candidate who can work well in a team, embrace change and play a supportive role in the delivery of our new collection plan.

 

Home to the 6 species of flamingo, one of the largest native species aviaries in the UK and high success track record breeding a multitude of wonderful wildfowl, the successful candidate will be joining us at a very exciting time. Duties will range from feeding, maintenance of exhibits and observing to breeding and rearing.

 

You will maintain our high standards, meeting the Zoo License requirements as set by the Secretary of State's Standards of Modern Zoo Practice. You will also be in key in providing visitor engagement contributing to our Centre objectives. 

 

The ideal candidate will have wide range of experience in a wetland bird taxa, including care, feeding, husbandry, exhibition of birds and a solid grounding in animal behaviour.

A driving license is essential.
