Postdoc opportunity - Project Seahorse marine conservation group

Postdoc opportunity - Project Seahorse marine conservation group

Dear friends,

Can you please think of anybody who might be interested in a postdoc
opportunity at UBC with our Project Seahorse marine conservation
group ? We are open to people with either science or social science
interests.

We would nominate a suitable person for the prestigious KIllam
postdoctoral fellowships that UBC offers. Details can be found on
http://www.grad.ubc.ca/awards/index.asp?menu=015,000,000,000 but I
give key elements below. You can learn more about Project Seahorse
at http://www.projectseahorse.org

We would need to hear from candidates very soon. The Fisheries
Centre deadline will be about 15 October in order to meet the UBC
deadline of 1 November 2008. Applicants will hear by April the
following year.

The fellowships are awarded for a maximum of two years, subject to
review at the end of the first year, and include a stipend of CAD
$46,000 per annum and a maximum research and travel allowance of CAD
$6000 for the tenure of the award. The number of awards varies
between six and 12 per year.

Eligibility
- May be citizens of any country
- Must have obtained their PhD no more than 24 months prior to the
anticipated fellowship start date
- Must not have any previous links with UBC.
- Should have shown outstanding ability in research
- Should wish to pursue postdoctoral research at The University of
British Columbia

Preference will be given to applicants who have not already held a
postdoctoral award or fellowship.

Fellowships are tenable only at UBC, and fellows are expected to make
the UBC campus their base. Fellowships from this next cycle may not
begin earlier than May 1, 2009 or later than January 2, 2010. Most
fellowships commence between July and October.

Do please send good people my way. Thanks very much for the help and
interest.

All the best,
Amanda
