Head Keeper - Chessington World of Adventures

Head Keeper - Chessington World of Adventures

Due to extensive new projects we are looking to expand our Zoo team and are therefore recruiting an experienced Head Keeper.

About the role:
From Tigers to Sharks, Gorillas and Military Macaws to Marmosets, our Zoo and SEA LIFE Centre boast a huge array of wildlife.

New for 2010 are our Wild Asia, Wanyama Village and Reserve and Lorikeet Lagoon – which are all designed to help our Adventurers get up even closer and more personal with the cheeky, the mischievous and the exotic – and in this key role, you’ll be right there at the heart of it, making sure that everything runs smoothly.

That means understanding and delivering unrivalled standards of animal husbandry and welfare and creating the most stimulating environment possible – not just for our Adventurers, but for the animals too - and since we’re big on conservation, education and research and you’ll have a big part to play in that too.

About you:
You will be a dynamic people leader with drive and passion for focus and development.

You will have a solid background of Health and Safety knowledge and crucially Zoo Legislation.

You perhaps have a goal to become a Zoo Manager and this opportunity will play a crucial part in taking that next big step.

You are organised and flexible with the business needs and will be able to stay focused and in control under pressure.

You actively evolve with change and business requirements and keep up to date within your field.

You will have a basic knowledge of Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word and Excel.

About us:
Chessington World of Adventures offers explorers of all ages the chance to go wild and leave the dull restraints of everyday life behind.

With our extraordinary blend of rides and wildlife, we focus on providing a great day out for all the family.

Not only will you be working at the heart of a brand that’s all about freedom, discovery and fun-filled challenges, you’ll also be joining a business that’s part of the massively successful Merlin Entertainments Group – the world’s second largest visitor attraction operator attracting over 32.5 million visitors a year.

Based at Chessington World of Adventures you will work 5 days out of 7, however, working hours will be flexible and include weekends, bank holidays and evenings.
Flexibility is required to meet the business needs.
