Curator of Carnivores and Large Mammals



One of Northeast Ohio’s finest attractions is seeking candidates for Curator of Carnivores and Large Mammals to plan, direct, and coordinate all activities regarding the management of large cats, bears, hoofstock, rhinos and elephants.

Essential functions:

Under the direction of the General Curator, works in coordination with veterinarians, conservation scientists, animal care managers, animal keepers and others to manage the carnivore and large mammal collection.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred, in Biology, Zoology, or related field. A minimum of five years experience in operations, supporting an exotic animal collection, to include three years of supervisory experience. In-depth knowledge of ISIS (International Species Inventory System), the AZA’s Conservation and Science programs, Federal and State wildlife legislation, and husbandry and exhibitry issues. Must have proven scientific skills; demonstrated leadership and participative management skills; excellent communication skills (oral and written), problem solving, vision, collaboration, and decision making to analyze diverse facts, develop clear concise reports and recommendations. Salary $57,628 - $86,442. Open until filled.
