HEAD OF SECTION (CARNIVORES)

SAFARI PARK
We are currently
looking for a passionate and experienced Head of Section to manage the carnivore
section, within Woburn Safari Park which welcomes over 400,000 visitors each
year.
Set in excess of 40
acres within our Park, the carnivore section is home to some exciting species,
including Amur tigers, African lions, Canadian timber wolves and North American
black bears, who roam freely within their large enclosures as part of the
Safari drive through.
As Head of Section,
your role will be to manage and develop a passionate and experienced team of
Animal Keepers and Interns, ensuring that safe and efficient animal husbandry
is practised at all times.
You will be
responsible for the welfare of your team; our visitors and the animals within
your area, monitoring and reviewing animal behaviour, keeping accurate records
and ensuring that internal protocols and industry guidelines, such as the BIAZA
and DEFRA are adhered to. As part of this role you will assist with collection
planning within the section.
Previous experience
of working with carnivores at head of section or deputy level is a must for
this position together with an animal management qualification.
In addition, you will
have a full current driving licence, hold a current firearms and shot gun
licence and l be fully proficient in their use.
The position is full time working 5
days out of 7. As this will include regular weekend working, a flexible
approach to days / hours will be required.
