Safari Zoo are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, practical and committed vet. Candidates must be qualified for veterinary practice in the UK to lead our veterinary program.

Safari Zoo require an individual who’s willing to put in the necessary passion required to join our committed team who head up Europe's only award winning premier safari experience on foot. Safari Zoo has recently undergone extensive development to extend the ultimate interactive animal experience it provides its visitors who can walk freely amongst many of the animals, with the opportunity to hand feed penguins, giraffes, kangaroos and lemurs. Our staff all have an ability to appreciate and clearly communicate the conservation aims of the organisation as a whole and are proud to facilitate a unique experience to the public, getting close to rhinos, tigers, bears, primates, and vultures.

In your role, you will oversee the health and nutritional care of our animals with input from our animal management team, motivate and assist our animal department in ensuring compliance with accepted industry health & safety principles, Safari Zoo protocols and make sure reporting procedures are functional, up to date with standards strictly adhered to. Being a member of senior management you will act as a role model coordinating, inspiring and engaging a team of 18+ staff and equipment, therefore Safari Zoo are asking experience in a management position is preferred.


Working closely with the park director, reporting and liaising with the wider management team you will be responsible for ensuring effective animal treatment, immunisation and screening policies are practiced. Practicing knowledge of Zims, Studbooks and comprehensive animal record keeping is beneficial.

When required, contribute to strategic planning discussions to ensure the smooth daily operations of Safari Zoo, identify opportunities and provide cultural sensitivity liaising with its charitable conservation operations around the world. Oversee any onsite emergencies and develop and maintain effective working relationships in regards to work procedures, employee relations and procurement related concerns.
Some weekend and bank holiday work will be applicable on a roster system.
On occasion under rare circumstances you may be required to work outside of normal hours.
