Join our vibrant organisation

As an action oriented conservation charity, Marwell Wildlife’s desire is to connect people with nature. Through enthusing people about the wonders of the natural world we’re certain they’ll share our passion to conserve it. Our success relies on two key things. The impression we create through our 140 acre zoological park, Marwell Zoo, with its wide array of exotic and endangered species and the family of talented people we employ who share our passion and bring our vision to life.

A full time opportunity has arisen to join our Animal Management Team as an Animal Team Leader of our Hoofstock section.

We have exciting plans for our collection and exhibits, offering great opportunities for creative project and team work. For the right candidate, this post offers a fantastic opportunity to work with a wide range of hoofstock species from Dorcas Gazelle to White Rhino and contribute to captive breeding programmes with species such as Okapi, Grevys Zebra, Somali wild ass and Rothschild Giraffe.

This role is responsible for coordinating & supervising daily operations of the team, under the direction of the Animal Collection Manager, therefore excellent communication, organisational and people management skills are essential.

The successful candidate will have extensive, specialist taxonomic knowledge and wide-ranging experience of the management of Hoofstock with a minimum Level 3 (ANC / DMZAA) or equivalent qualification in animal management or biological sciences.

As a key contributor to the organisation and its goals, you will be expected to set the example, demonstrate positive behavior and conduct yourself in line with our Values at all times as you will be in daily contact with your colleagues throughout the wider organisation and our guests.

In return we will offer you support, training and continued professional development, not to mention a fantastic working environment!

Due to the need to drive park vehicles, candidates must also hold a full driving license valid for the UK.

Closing date for applications is: 21st Sep 2020
