Animal Curator - Hadlow College
£30,276 to £33,926 per annum
Hadlow College is Kent's premier land-based college and one of the top three such colleges in the United Kingdom.
Animal Management courses are offered across all 3 of our sites; Hadlow, Mottingham and Canterbury and as a result of the year on year growth in course provision and student numbers we are currently developing a state of the art multi-million pound animal management, veterinary nursing and dog grooming facility at our main campus in Hadlow. The facility, which will be completed in the Spring and fully operational by September 2009, will be one of the best in the country and will allow our students to maximise their learning and gain realistic experience of the workplace for their future careers.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our passionate, experienced and highly professional team to lead the continued development of our animal resources across all 3 of our sites.
In particular, we want to develop our brand new £multi-million animal unit at Hadlow into an innovative learning and visitor experience which will include reviewing the collections and gaining a zoo licence. For this reason the successful candidate must have proven experience in the management of zoological collections.
The role will include the line management of a team of dedicated staff and therefore previous line management experience is essential, as is a relevant animal related qualification and the ability to communicate effectively and credibly with industrial, educational and professional contacts, including staff and students, at all levels.
As well as contributory pension scheme, corporate gym membership and free car parking, this post also attracts six weeks holiday each year (excluding bank holidays).
