Animal Handling Educator - Isle of Wight Zoo

The Isle of Wight Zoo is the Island’s original and leading zoo. It is located on the popular east coast of the Isle of Wight overlooking a spectacular sandy beach just half an hour’s drive away from the capital town. The zoo is privately operated by a proactive and dedicated team.

A unique opportunity has arisen for an Animal Educator to operate a new indoor handling zone. This new facility will house a collection of small companion and endangered mammals, reptiles, invertebrates and fish and will be a focal point within the zoo for raising awareness about pet ownership and building respect for animals.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, out-going and approachable. Due to the stand alone nature of this role reliability is essential. Animal husbandry and education skills and experience are a requirement of this post. This position will be best suited to an individual who has experience working in an appropriate animal centre and has an in-depth working knowledge of reptiles.

Applicants should be CRB checked and be in a position to re-locate to the Isle of Wight. An NVQ level 2 in animal care or equivalent qualification is advantageous.
