Displays and Maintenance Manager – Lakes Aquarium, Cumbria
£19,000 per annum – (full time, permanent)
The Lakes Aquarium is seeking an enthusiastic and pro-active Displays and Maintenance Manager to join the team.
Firmly established as one of the Lake District’s most popular visitor attractions, The Lakes Aquarium is home to a diverse range of creatures - from catfish and otters, to starfish and caiman!
Leading a small team, the Displays and Maintenance Manager is responsible for the development, production and maintenance of all displays, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and husbandry at all times. This includes ensuring all regulations relating to the zoo license are adhered to, and all related administration duties fulfilled.
The role also includes responsibility for the development and implementation of attraction’s educational offering - ensuring that all visitors receive an educational, informative and fun visit. In addition the Displays and Maintenance Manager is also responsible for managing general site maintenance.
This is an exciting opportunity suitable for an ambitious senior Aquarist looking to progress their career. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with a wide variety of creatures including marine and freshwater fish, mammals and reptiles. A proven track record in the aquarium industry is essential along with an organised, structured approach and can-do attitude. Relevant qualifications and project management experience are an advantage.
The position includes on-call responsibilities on a rota basis as well as weekend and bank holiday working.
