Experienced Zoo Keeper - Flamingo Land Zoo

Experienced Zoo Keeper
Flamingo Land Zoo

Closing date: 04th July 2010

Flamingo Land zoological department is looking for an experienced zoo keeper to join our team. Flamingo Land is one of the leading tourist attractions in the UK, attracting more than 1.4 million visitors each year. The zoo is in an exciting phase of development that has recently seen the creation of a number of themed zoogeographic areas and the development of the education and conservation departments. The successful candidate will be expected to work with a variety of taxa, focusing on our large ungulates, including white rhinoceros, common hippopotamus and Rothschild’s giraffe. All of our zoo keepers are encouraged to participate in a range of activities which include research, environmental enrichment and education.

The successful candidate will have at least three years experience working in a zoological collection and have passed the Advanced National Certificate in the Management of Zoo Animals. Experience with ungulates would be an advantage, but you will receive direct training in the husbandry of these species. The successful candidate will also be enthusiastic, reliable and a good team player.

Interviews will take place during the week beginning the 05th July 2010.
