We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Vet Nurse to join our team. The current team includes one Veterinarian, one Veterinary Administrator/Research Scientist and one Veterinary Nurse, with recruitment of additional team members underway.

The Breeding Centre for Endangered Arabian Wildlife (BCEAW) is one of four facilities which make up the Sharjah Desert Park; there is also a Natural History & Botanical Museum, a Children’s Farm and Arabia’s Wildlife Centre. The main focuses of the centre are conservation and research of fauna endemic to the Arabian Peninsula, with a particular focus on captive breeding, husbandry and population management. We have a collection of approximately 5,000 animals, ranging from rodents, reptiles and aquatic specimens to large carnivores and hoof stock (both wild and domestic) and a growing collection of raptors and wader birds.  The veterinary department is responsible for the well-being of all animals at the Sharjah Desert Park, the Kalba Bird of Prey Centre and other facilities are in the planning stages.

You will be expected to be highly skilled and dedicated in order to assist the veterinary team in moving forward and managing the healthcare of this growing collection. Responsibilities include dealing with first opinion cases, preventative medicine, nursing, quarantine, stock control, processing in-house laboratory samples, and record keeping.

Essential requirements:
Internationally recognised Veterinary Nursing certificate with a minimum of three years’ recent, full-time veterinary nursing experience, preferably with some exotic animal experience.
Expertise and interest in laboratory work.
Confident in animal handling.
Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
A highly motivated, adaptable and dynamic individual with maturity and who is passionate about what they do.

We offer a full-time, permanent position. The hours are 7am-1pm and 3pm-6pm, Sunday to Thursday with a share of weekend duties and after hours work as required. We offer a competitive salary, partially furnished, on-site accommodation, and basic medical insurance.
