Manager, Musée océanographique de Monaco

The manager of the aquarium division will drive its future development and take it to state of the art world standards in terms of visitor experience.

A scientific background is preferred, but not necessarily in marine biology, as specialist expertise resides in the existing aquarium team of some 10 specialists in aquarium life.

The ideal candidate would typically come from a managerial position in an aquarium, zoo, nature park, museum, theme park etc and have a deep interest in marine life.  This position is as much about managing people, projects and processes as it is about managing living creatures.

The candidate may be of any nationality, and is expected to be resident in Southern France, close to Monaco.

Reporting line:
This position reports to the Director, Operations of the Institut Océanographique (Musée Océanographique de Monaco)

Main responsibilities:
Developing the range of species represented in the aquarium.
Supervise health and safety aspects of aquaculture/incubation.
Support the Director, Operations in purchasing, budgets, development of new projects, regulatory compliance, etc.
Receiving VIP, media and other professional visitor groups is part of the job.
Must be able to work effectively with different teams at the oceanographic museum (PR and communications, events management, cultural heritage, etc)

Desired Skills

A scientific degree is preferred but the candidate must have the requisite experience in the for-profit sector, not in academia or NGOs.

The candidate must have a good working knowledge of French, the verbal and written language of communication at the oceanographic museum.
