in Tynemouth seeks Sea Lion Keeper/Trainer

Blue Reef Tynemouth
Aquarium, located on the North East coast, 6 miles from the centre of Newcastle
up Tyne is seeking a full time
Sea Lion Trainer/Keeper in its Mammal Department.
You will be
responsible for the care, training and all aspects of animal husbandry of the
aquariums two Californian Sea Lions. In
addition to animal care and training, this position will also include daily
maintenance of the Life Support System,
cleaning, environmental enrichment, record keeping, presentations, media events
and guest interactions.
The minimum
requirements for this position are:
- Sea Lion training experience of at least 2 years
- An understanding of behavioural enrichment
- Current knowledge of natural history, animal behaviour and husbandry
- Team orientated attitude with good communication skills
- Strong public presentation skills and enthusiastic attitude
- Good level of physical fitness
This is a full time
position and includes working weekends and bank holidays.
