This is a rare opportunity for an experienced senior leader to transform the sanctuary where community and commercial objectives are complimentary.

Kamo Wildlife Sanctuary seeks a hard working and knowledgeable General Manager with wildlife experience. The successful applicant must be able to live on the Sanctuary site. 

To be considered for this fantastic opportunity you will have the following:

  
Specific Skills & Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge in wildlife management procedures and protocols


  • Understanding of the needs and habits of the different species of big cats in the collection


  • Basic knowledge in veterinary medicine


  • Ability to develop and organize fascinating exhibits


  • Ability to conduct interesting and instructive tours


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


  • Advanced report writing skills


  • Advanced business management skills


  • Management of animal collection and staff members




Job Outputs

  • Provide general management of all KWS activities


  • Prepare, administer and review the KWS budget annually & quarterly


  • Ensure that the KWS complies with MAF Biosecurity Standard 154.03.04


  • Ensure a working relationship with zoological organisations such as ZAA


  • Manage the day-to-day operations, and assure smooth functioning of KWS operations


  • Implementation of policies and procedures as required by the Ministry of Primary   Industry (MPI) and Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)
