The Port Moresby Nature Park (PMNP) operates Papua New Guinea’s leading and highest visited wildlife recreational park with the vision to inspire in others the guardianship of PNG’s biodiversity.

PMNP opened in June, 2012 and is a registered charity.  The PMNP works to bring about a change in attitudes, beliefs and actions in ways that reduce threats to wildlife, promotes the wellbeing of wildlife, and prevents extinction, all whilst providing engaging recreational spaces and community events and activities that drives visitation.

 

Port Moresby Nature Park is an accredited member of the Zoo and Aquarium Association of Australasia.

 

Working with the PMNP Board under the support of the National Capital District Commission (NCDC), the CEO will drive growth, ensure ongoing operations and continue the delivery of expansion programs including master planning and development of a 10-year roadmap.  The CEO will lead and grow key partnerships at all levels and lead the strategy development for the site including driving the funding and sponsorship efforts for future expansion plans, visitor engagement, ongoing maintenance of the site, influence wildlife conservation programs, and care of wildlife. The CEO will provide strong leadership, a clear direction and achieve strategic organisational objectives with the commitment to driving educational programs to schools at all levels and within the community.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience within a zoo, wildlife park, or similar industry, have a strong commitment to conservation and the expertise to take the Nature Park to the next level. You will successfully engage with key stakeholders including the local community, international aid and donor organisations, business communities, local and national government levels, tourism providers, and international partners including conservation organisations, universities and other zoos.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have a leadership style that is compassionate, collaborative and impactful and be experienced in driving strategic vision and mission, leading and driving the growth of a large wildlife organisation, have an ability to seek and secure outside funding sources, strong financial acumen, a well-developed network and have led large scale developments, projects and builds.  You will also have the ability to represent the PMNP both nationally and internationally, engage with a diverse range of staff with the focus to develop and enhance their knowledge and skills.


A Bachelor Degree in business management or relevant higher degree or extensive experience within a similar role in the industry.  This position is a three-year contract, open to both Nationals and expatriates and is based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
