Libassa Wildlife Sanctuary

 

Libassa Wildlife Sanctuary is looking for a dynamic and experienced Sanctuary Director who will be responsible to ensure the effective operational management of the sanctuary.



Start date: as soon as possible



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Oversee care, welfare and rehabilitation of +/- 130 animals at the sanctuary in collaboration with the veterinarian/sanctuary manager;

· In collaboration with the Forestry Development Authority, recover illegally kept and or trafficked wild animals for placement at Libassa Wildlife Sanctuary, and participate in appropriate follow-up;

· In collaboration with the Forestry Development Authority, develop opportunities for reintroduction and release of rehabilitated wildlife species.

· Assist in bottle feeding or medical procedures for a great variety of species if needed;

· Work closely with Government of Liberia agencies, including national, provincial and local authorities;

· Develop and manage project budgets, write proposals and complete annual financial and technical reports;

· Produce regular updates, monthly and annual reports;

· Supervise and manage 6 local staff in collaboration with the sanctuary manager; 

· Develop and maintain relationships with funders and partners, including the Government of Liberia, NGOs, donor agencies, and other private sector interests;

· Represent Libassa Wildlife Sanctuary in official matters, to donors, media, the Government of Liberia, and other stakeholders.

· In collaboration with the sanctuary manager, create plans and proposals, as needed for development and implementation of education/outreach programs.

· In collaboration with the sanctuary manager, oversee enclosure and existing infrastructure maintenance. Create proposals for design and construction of new infrastructure and enclosures and implement board-approved projects;

· In collaboration with the sanctuary manager, ensure maintenance of grounds, equipment, vehicles, and other facility infrastructure;

· Ensure all safety and health protocols are closely followed by staff and the visiting public.
