We currently have an Apprenticeship available for a Trainee Zoo Keeper.

The successful candidate will assist in caring for a variety of exotic species. They will work to a high standard under the direction of the Head Keeper. Working with animals can be very routine and can be physically demanding, this positions involves working a five day 40hr week including weekends and bank holidays. No prior zoo or animal husbandry experience for the posts of apprentice is required, as full in house training will be given, although candidates will be expected to demonstrate a keen interest in zoo animal husbandry. The successful candidate will also be expected to achieve an NVQ Level 2 in zoo animal care during the course of the apprenticeship, which is expected to last between 12 and 15 months. Salary is currently the National Apprenticeship wage at £4.30 per hour – and then minimum wage after the first year depending upon age. You must be over 16 years old to apply. And must be available to start in September.
