The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS), a charity founded in 1909, owns and manages Edinburgh Zoo and the Highland Wildlife Park. The Zoo is the 2nd most popular paying visitor attraction in Scotland, offering an excellent day out to more than 650,000 visitors annually, and has an international reputation for its very active conservation and education programmes. The Highland Wildlife Park is a premier visitor attraction based at Kincraig outside Aviemore and features Scottish and other species, some now extinct in the wild.

The Zoo is modernizing and expanding to meet and exceed the demands of visitors for the best facilities and services, while maintaining its excellent standards of animal welfare and enhancing its conservation and education activities. The Animal, Conservation & Education Department plays a central, dynamic part in this process.

A vacancy has arisen for an Education Presenter working within the Animal, Conservation & Education team. This role is to be part of the team communicating to visitors, especially within the new £6m Budongo Trail chimpanzee exhibit opened in 2008 and our Rainbow Landings lorikeet exhibit.

This role requires good communication skills and ability to relate to different age and ability groups.

The successful candidate will need to work in close collaboration with others and the post requires flexible working – including weekends, and is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week.

The successful candidate will preferably have experience of giving presentations/public speaking, working with diverse age groups and/or working in a visitor attraction, and have a good level of animal / environmental knowledge and excellent customer care.

Salary for this post will be in the region of £13,000 - £14,000 depending on experience.

This post is subject to an enhanced CRB check.
