Experienced Carnivore / Big Cat Keeper

 

A position has become available for an experienced Carnivore and Big Cat Keeper.  The position is working 11 days out of 14, including weekends and bank holidays.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and highly motivated individual to join our small, friendly team.  This position provides a unique opportunity for the right individual. The role includes responsibility for our Malayan Tigers, Maned Wolves and 'White' Tigers, Cheetahs, Canadian Lynx and Syrian Brown Bears.

 

Tasks will include:

•             Ensuring animal husbandry and welfare needs are met to a high standard.

•             Assisting with record keeping via ZIMS, including personal and relevant observations of animal welfare, health and behaviour.

•             Assisting with veterinary, training, and other animal related procedures.

•             Assisting with the preparation of approved diets and carrying out the correct feeding procedures.

•             Assisting with exhibit and Enclosure design and upkeep.

•             Ensuring that safety and emergency procedures are always followed.

•             Involvement with the production and delivery of keeper-talks and education sessions, alongside our education department.

 

The successful applicant will be committed to running and developing our conservation and breeding programme for the Cheetahs. They must be capable of working well within a team, as well as alone and unsupervised. You must be educated to at least GCSE level in English, Maths and Science. An animal-based qualification is desirable but not essential.

 

Experience in this area is critical, and full references must be provided.

 

Due to the physical nature of the job, applicants will need to be physically fit and healthy, and be fully prepared to work outside in all weathers.

Requirement

 

•             A good knowledge of carnivores and global animal conservation issues.

•             An ability to communicate this knowledge to the general public.

•             Your own transport is required due to our rural location, there is no public transport to the zoo.

•             Accommodation could be available.

Dolphin Marine Conservation Park (DMCP) is an iconic marine park and tourist attraction based on the beautiful mid north coast of NSW, Australia We are seeking to employ a Marine Mammal Trainer to join our Marine Mammal Operations team. You will work alongside your dedicated colleagues in the Marine team to care for and train our collection of Australian Sea Lions, Bottle nosed Dolphins, Little blue penguins, ensuring at all times that they receive the highest quality of welfare. You will also be involved in Rescue and Rehab of marine animals and other amazing opportunities within the facility.
  • Min 1 year paid training experience
  • In water dolphin interaction experience ideal but not essential.
  • Must have Australian residency/working visa

Wild Planet Trust is a registered education, scientific and conservation charity established in 1957 and based in Devon, UK. We own two zoos in south west England, plus two local nature reserves and a National Nature Reserve. We support conservation in the United Kingdom and overseas using funds generated by the people who visit the zoos and the expertise and dedication of our staff.

Paignton Zoo first opened its doors as the Torbay Zoological Gardens in 1923. Almost 100 years later, our site, and work, has grown considerably and we are now one of the South West’s largest conservation organisations and top visitor attractions. There are over 230 species of animal that call Paignton Zoo home. As well as being a zoo, we’re also a botanical garden with over 4,000 species on record.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader to join our Mammals team on a permanent contract. This is a full time role working 38.75 hours over 5 days, working hours will vary over a 7 day rota, including weekends and bank holidays. The salary for this position is £27,807.00 per annum.

A position has become available for an experienced full-time cover keeper to start as soon as possible, working 10 or 11 days out of 14, including weekends and bank holidays. The salary is National Minimum Wage.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and highly motivated individual to join our small, friendly team. To cover all sections within the park. This position involves tasks such as cleaning, feeding, and enclosure maintenance, health checks and food preparation.

 

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the highest standard of animal husbandry are met. They must also be capable of working well within a team, as well as alone and unsupervised. You must be educated to at least GCSE level in English and Maths. An animal-based qualification is preferred but not essential.

 

Due to the physical nature of the job, applicants will need to be physically fit and healthy, and be fully prepared to work outside in all weathers.

 

A full driving license is essential due to our rural location.

AQUARIUM SUPERVISOR

Job Purpose:
Oversee care of the main aquarium, LSS and provide assistance for animal husbandry.


Qualifications:
-Graduate of Biology or Fisheries courses or any relevant equivalent
-Must have at least 3 to 5 years experience in Marine Animals, Animal Husbandry, Aquarium Daily Activities and Maintenance and Exhibit Maintenance
-Must have at least Advanced Open Water Dive License , diving proficiency is a must
-With supervisory experience, good leadership skill and the desire to improve system and displays
-Excellent communication skills
-Proficient in MS applications
