Collection Manager
Marwell Wildlife is a registered charity dedicated
to the conservation of biodiversity and other natural resources. Our 140 acre
zoological park in the heart of Hampshire is home to over 170 exotic and
charismatic species in beautiful landscaped surroundings.
A rare opportunity has arisen within our
animal team as Collection Manager overseeing the bird, reptile, amphibian and
invertebrate collections.
This role will report to the curator of
birds and lower vertebrates, and working within a team of Collection Managers. The
role also works closely with the veterinary team.
The role of Collection Manager is
responsible for day to day animal care and must be able to demonstrate best
practice in all areas of animal management and husbandry.
A key part of the role will be working with
studbook managers and EEP coordinators to manage animal transactions, therefore
candidates will ideally have previous experience in this area.
Collection Managers are responsible for the
recruitment, selection, training, development and performance management of
their allocated teams. Excellent people
management skills are a must as you will be working with teams across the organisation
as well as your direct reports.
It is expected that the role will represent
Marwell at relevant national and international forums.
Therefore the successful candidate
will have a proven track record of managing both animals and people within
zoos. Candidates must also hold a minimum Level 3 ANC /
DMZAA or equivalent qualification in animal management or biological sciences.
