Senior Animal Keeper

Senior Animal Keeper

Marwell Wildlife is a registered charity dedicated to the conservation of biodiversity and other natural resources. Our 140 acre zoological park in the heart of Hampshire is home to over 180 exotic and charismatic species in beautiful landscaped surroundings.

We have a position available as a Senior Animal Keeper to join our Animal Management Team.

Candidates will have a strong general taxanomic knowledge which will allow them the flexibility to work across all sections in the park, however the role will primarily focus on hoofstock, and therefore previous experience and a keen interest would be beneficial in this area.

Roles and responsibilities will include supporting the Team Leader on your allocated section in ensuring high standards of animal husbandry are maintained at all times along with daily checks and recordkeeping.

Applicants will need to have previous experience in animal husbandry within a zoological collection, hold 5 GCSE’s or equivalent and a valid driving licence. The DMZAA or equivalent qualification is essential at Senior Keeper level.

The successful candidate will be able to work well as part of a team, have the ability to use their initiative, display interest and commitment to animal welfare and conservation, and must possess strong verbal communication skills as talking to members of the public is an essential part of the role.
