Wetlands are essential for life. The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) creates and protects wetland habitats to provide water, food and shelter for people and wildlife. We save species around the world from extinction; our nine UK Wetland Centers inspire thousands of visitors to enjoy being close to nature.

WWT is seeking to appoint a skilled and experienced animal management professional with a proven track record to coordinate our national captive animal collection.

The main function of this role is to ensure the highest standards of captive animal welfare and animal collection design and maintenance across our seven UK Wetland Centers licensed as zoos.

You will be responsible for managing WWT’s animal health team with whom you will conduct regular site inspections. You will also be responsible for providing advice, guidance, support and training to animal management staff based at our Wetland Centers.
We are looking for someone with a combination of hands-on animal and bird keeping experience and considerable curatorial or collection management experience gained ideally in a zoo or visitor attraction setting.

You will have a creative eye for exhibit design, a thorough knowledge of all aspects of animal collection management and a reputation for maintaining high standards.

You will also be an experienced people manager with demonstrable training, development and influencing skills.

This role will ideally be based at our Slimbridge headquarters and will require regular travel across the UK and to Northern Ireland.
