Visitor Engagement Volunteer

Visitor Engagement Volunteer
 (Unpaid)

Howletts Wild Animal Park and Port Lympne Reserve work in conjunction with The Aspinall Foundation; a charity committed to conservation and the reintroduction of captive bred species back into their natural habitats.

A new role has been developed in conjunction with the Education and Fundraising departments and we are looking for volunteers at both Howletts and Port Lympne parks.

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals to help us enhance visitor experience and raise awareness of the work being done at the parks and by The Aspinall Foundation. Successful candidates will act as information hotspots at busy points throughout the parks and engage visitors through short talks and activities. You will be provided with up-to-date information each day, which will enable you to increase visitor knowledge and enrich their visit.
Full training and supervision will also be given.

We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, approachable and friendly with a genuine interest in conservation and can confidently represent the parks and The Aspinall Foundation. Applicants should be available to volunteer 1 – 5 days per week between 9am and 5pm. You will also need to be available to attend an induction sessions on either the 11th or 12th June.

As we are a Registered Charity, funded entirely by visitor fees and donations, we regret we are unable to offer any wages or salary for the placement.  We will provide a uniform and discount at the parks food outlets for the days that you attend work. No other financial benefits are offered.   Candidates will need to have the ability to financially support themselves for the duration of their volunteer placement. Please be aware that unfortunately we are unable to offer accommodation. However, we do offer comprehensive practical training which provides significant insight into the functioning of a successful and responsible zoological collection, the aim being to promote your future employability.

Closing date: Wednesday 8th June 2016

To apply: email your CV and covering letter to Jess Wise: volunteer@aspinallfoundation.org
