Veterinary Surgeon

Reporting to: Wildlife Operations
Hours: 37.5 hrs
Work pattern: Attractive rota with minimal out of hours work
Duration: Permanent

Description:
West Midland Safari Park is currently seeking a confident, forward thinking, enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our resident RVN and Wildlife team. This is an exciting opportunity for a vet with exotic experience to conduct preventive care and provide medical attention to all animals on site from reptiles through to large mammals. Exotic/zoo experience is preferred but guidance and support is available.

The successful candidate will need to:
• Implement health care programmes
• Conduct regular preventative care to maintain animal health
• Provide medical care to ill and injured animals
• Be responsible for maintaining WMSP’s BALAI status
• Conduct appropriate testing for animals transports
• Have an ability to liaise with managers and communicate at all levels
• Have an excellent understanding of animal husbandry
• Have a professional and methodical approach to record keeping, staff training and health and safety.

Due to the nature of the role all candidates must have a full, valid driving license. In addition, the successful candidate will need to be a qualified veterinary surgeon registered with RCVS
