Senior Animal Keeper – Primates and Small Mammals

Senior Animal Keeper – Primates and Small Mammals

Join our vibrant organisation!

As an action oriented conservation charity, Marwell Wildlife’s desire is to connect people with nature. Through enthusing people about the wonders of the natural world we’re certain they’ll share our passion to conserve it. Our success relies on two key things. The impression we create through our 140 acre zoological park, Marwell Zoo, with its wide array of exotic and endangered species and the family of talented people we employ who share our passion and bring our vision to life.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Animal Keeper to join our Primates and Small Mammals team on a full time basis, working 40 hours per week over 5 days out of 7.

We have exciting plans for the development of our collection and exhibits, offering great opportunities for creative project and team work. This role is responsible for supporting the Team Leader with the co-ordination & supervision of the daily operations of the team and ensuring high standards of animal husbandry are maintained at all times.

The successful candidate will have specialist taxonomic knowledge and experience in Primates and Small Mammals. They will also hold 5 GCSE’s or equivalent and a full driving licence valid for the UK, allowing them to drive park vehicles. The DMZAA or equivalent qualification is also essential at Senior Keeper level.

Applicants will be able to work well as part of a team, have the ability to use their initiative, display interest and commitment to animal welfare and conservation, and must possess strong verbal communication skills, as talking to members of the public is an essential part of the role.

Accommodation may be available on a short term basis to the successful candidate. Please note this would incur a rental cost.

If you would like to join our unique and vibrant organisation and become part of our Marwell Family, please visit our website, marwell.org.uk for a full candidate brief and our electronic application form. This application form must be completed for you to be considered for this role.
