TEMPORARY AQUARIUM
KEEPER
Toledo Zoo
The position
requires up to 40 hours per week and will require working some weekends and
holidays through the remainder of 2017. Under the direction of the aquarium
keepers and curator, keeper will prepare appropriate animal diets, cleans,
sweep, dust work areas and some public areas adjacent to exhibits. Will also
prepare plankton bottles and assist with unloading salt and preparing seawater.
May assist keepers with live food culture maintenance, exhibit cleaning and
water quality data collection, animal feeding and other related duties as
required.
Requires the ability
to read and process verbal and written instructions and communication and to
tolerate the use of cleaning chemicals and tolerate dust during housekeeping.
Will work in humid and warm environments and may lift bags that can weigh up to
50 pounds.
Preference will be
given to current marine biology university students as well as those with
degrees in the field. Scuba certification with a minimum of 10 hours of open
water dive time preferred.
Candidate who fills
this position will be a temporary employee through the remainder of 2017.
