Trainee Animal Care Assistant

We are looking for people someone who lives and breathes customer service for the role of Trainee Animal Care Assistant at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary.

As a Trainee Animal Care Assistant you will work with the Animal Care Team assisting in the daily management of resident animals and rescue, rehabilitation and release of rescued seal pups, ensuring consistently high standards of the team and their animal husbandry.

Do you have the following ?:
• Experience gained through significant work experience from an animal care role or through studies / education and experience in a relevant field.
• A knowledge of filtration and Life Support Systems
• A knowledge of the Water Environment, which will allow the identification and resolution of problems with the environment for the animals.
• A understanding of animal health, husbandry and behaviour to ensure each animal receives individual care.

With the ability to 'think on your feet' and take ownership of issues that may rise, you'll promote and maintain the highest standards of customer services at all times, giving a truly memorable experience to all of our customers.

The Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek is the only fully operational seal rescue centre in Cornwall. Our seal sanctuary provides a lifeline for stray, sick and injured seal pups which have been discovered around the Cornwall coast. The Sanctuary is a busy rescue centre, and also has resident Grey Seals, Common Seals, Patagonian & Californian Sea Lions, Penguins, Otters, Goats, Sheep and Ponies. Occasionally the Sanctuary's facilities and expertise are called upon to aid in the rescue of other marine creatures such as Dolphins and Turtles.
