ASSISTANT CURATOR – INVERTEBRATES

Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Curator for Invertebrates. This is a hands-on position with the post holder being responsible for the daily care of the Zoo’s invertebrate collection as well as carrying out Curatorial duties for Bug World and Butterfly Forest.
The successful applicant will have excellent knowledge of invertebrate husbandry and captive breeding and will become part of an 11 person team. This team has overall responsibility for the daily care of the Zoo’s collection of fish, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. Some husbandry experience of one of the other taxa mentioned here would be an advantage although is not essential.
The successful applicant will be educated to at least GCSE level, including English and a biological science and hold the City and Guilds Certificate in Zoo Animal Management (or equivalent). The ability to supervise staff and having a general knowledge of the conservation and educational roles of zoos is also desirable.
