The Displays Developments Department supports the 32 Public aquaria throughout the Merlin estate.
The department is responsible for the breeding, quarantine and transport of animals. It also develops new sites, life support and innovative displays.

The Role: A fantastic opportunity for a full-time Senior Aquarist of Jellyfish at Weymouth Displays Developments Department.
The main responsibility will be ensuring that all 32 sites have amazing displays of jellyfish and specialist support to run them.
This will be achieved through the propagation and acquisition of a wide range of jellyfish species.
The innovation of propagation techniques, research and trials of new species leading to new displays will be essential.
An important part of the role is to support the work in all the DDD quarantine sections.
The role requires being on call and working weekends on a rota basis.
The role will involve some international travel setting up Jellyfish features and running training courses.

The Person: The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a real passion in jellyfish husbandry.
A specialist training induction will be arranged around the needs of the individual.
A proven track record within fish breeding or jellyfish husbandry is required.
Jellyfish propagation experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
A relevant qualification would be useful but more important is a good understanding of life support systems, and having very good attention to detail.
Good communication and organisational skills, flexibility with working hours, excellent health and a full clean driving licence are essential, as is the ability and wish to relocate to Weymouth.
Most of all we need a highly motivated and passionate individual who works well in dynamic team.
