EXPERIENCE PRESENTER KEEPER
(Permanent Contract)
Chester
Zoo, one of Europe ’s leading Zoological collections, has an active and
award winning Discovery and Learning Division and is now recruiting an
Experience Presenter Keeper.
Our
Experience Presenter Keepers add
quality to the visitor experience by planning and delivering personalised
animal experiences to small groups of visitors in both public zoo spaces,
behind the scenes and in animal enclosures. These encounters generate revenue
for the zoo, and so guests are hosted to the highest standards of customer care
and service in accordance with Risk Assessments, Health and Safety regulations
and animal welfare.
The
successful applicant must have a Zoo Biology/Conservation degree or equivalent experience,
and a broad knowledge of conservation, ecology and biology. A good working knowledge of how to plan and
present educational activities, along with excellent presentation skills
(written and verbal) and tour guiding is required.
The
successful candidate will have experience of animal husbandry and working as
part of a zoo keeper team, have good knowledge of safe working practices and
the ability to write risk assessments.
Knowledge of Chester Zoo’s animal collection and conservation work is an
advantage.
They
will be able to provide excellent customer service, communicate effectively,
and show attention to detail to both internal and external customers, be
computer literate (in particular handling data and producing reports), have
good time management skills and the ability to multi task and respond
appropriately to the unexpected.
The
successful candidate will ideally have a current driving licence and a working
knowledge of plant identification.
This
post is subject to an enhanced CRB check.
A 4 week rota is in place. Work is the equivalent of
5 days a week, including Bank Holidays, and 3 out of 4 weekends.
Salary is £16,307 per annum
based on a 35 hour week, however additional hours are worked depending on
demand of bookings.
