Gorilla Keeper (Maternity Cover)

Gorilla Keeper (Maternity Cover)

Howletts Wild Animal Park, situated near Canterbury in Kent, is a charity committed to protecting rare and endangered animals from extinction through captive breeding and reintroduction programmes. Part of The Aspinall Foundation, Howletts is home to the largest captive breeding group of Western Lowland Gorillas in the world with over 130 births to date.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team of dedicated gorilla keepers as cover for a period of maternity leave starting mid April 2015. The ideal candidate will have experience gained in a mainstream zoological collection - preferably with great apes - an awareness of current conservation issues and a passion for animal welfare.

This is a physically demanding position so candidates must be physically fit. A full valid driving licence is essential to the role. Ideally you will posses experience of driving farm machinery and have a recognised Zoo Animal Management qualification would be an advantage.

Working 5 days a week, including weekends and bank holidays, the successful candidate will have a genuinely flexible approach to working hours. Single person accommodation is available.

Closing date: Friday 20th February 2015
