Kolmården Wildlife Park in Sweden has been on a continuous journey of development for the last few years and we have no plans of stopping anytime soon.

We are currently looking for an experienced and driven marine mammal trainer to join our team. Are you ready to come on an exciting journey with us? Read on!

In the role as marine mammal trainer you will ensure the highest possible welfare standards for our collection of bottlenose dolphins and seals. We aim for optimal welfare for all our animals at all times and as such you will not only be responsible for ensuring exceptional facility cleanliness and appropriate nutrition for the animals, but you will also be expected to carry out animal observations, thorough record keeping and daily husbandry training. You will be required to research, develop, deliver and evaluate environmental enrichment that meet species-specific needs. Additional duties include coaching of students and apprentices, supporting our education, sustainability and research departments and of course planning and executing goal-orientated animal training using advanced concepts in positive reinforcement training for the purpose of shows, guest interactions and educational presentations.

The right person for this position has at least 3 years’ experience in working with and training marine mammals. You must have previous experience of performing in and working with animals in dynamic shows, working animals in groups and waterwork.

In addition to the above, we are looking for a person who knows how to have fun in work. You need to possess a positive and optimistic attitude. The right candidate for this position is a skilled problem solver who is flexible with a can-do approach in work. You should of course be able to act professionally and have exceptional communication skills which you have a knack for adapting. Marine mammal trainers at Kolmården work under high pressure year-round and the job is physically very demanding. As such you need to be resilient, effective, flexible, physically fit and the successful candidate will be required to pass a swim test. Lastly we want you to be comfortable in front of large audiences. Showmanship and customer service comes easy to you and you are passionate about teaching our visitors about our animals and inspiring them for a life-long commitment to our planet and its wildlife.

Driver’s license and a diving certificate at open water level is a requirement for this position, as is fluency in written and spoken English. Applicants must have a right to work within the EU.
