We are looking for a
hard working individual to become part of a very dynamic and passionate bird
staff team under the charge of Jemima Parry-Jones MBE at the International
Centre for Birds of Prey, Newent, Gloucestershire.
We are seeking a
motivated and enthusiastic individual who has a good sense of humour coupled
with excellent communication skills. A willingness to work hard and be a team
player is very important to us. As a member of bird staff you must be prepared
to liaise and work closely with all centre staff and volunteers.
The husbandry and
cleanliness of the centre is paramount and a huge part of the job. As a team
player you must be prepared to work with both staff and volunteers in these
tasks. The position is physically demanding and requires good practical DIY
skills.
You will be required
to take part in public flying demonstrations with our team of trained birds and
also conduct guided tours for all ages of visitors, therefore public speaking
skills are essential. The ability to project and to be clearly understood is
important. Experience in training birds of prey is useful, but not essential.
The successful applicant will receive appropriate training. However you must
show a strong desire to learn, study and improve your knowledge and skills
base.
The position is 40
hours a week over 5 days including weekends and bank holidays with time off in
lieu. These hours are subject to change over the year and applicants need to be
flexible in their approach. Days off are likely to be in the week.
Further Educational
qualifications are an advantage at any level, GCSE’s or equivalent in English,
Maths and Science are essential.
A Full UK driving
license is essential.
This is a full time
permanent position with an initial 6 months probationary period.
We are afraid that
no private birds or pets are allowed on the job.
