Dolphins Pacific would like to announce that we are looking for a hard working and Marine Mammal Trainer to join our marine mammal training team.

Founded in 2001, Dolphins Pacific is a non-profit research, education and interaction facility. The facility is located amongst the Rock Islands of Palau, which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Job Description

In your position as Marine Mammal Trainer, you will be involved in maintaining current animal behaviour, including demonstration, interactive, and husbandry behaviour, and training new behaviours, using operant condition techniques;Assisting the veterinary staff with medical procedures and sample collection; Food preparation and facility maintenance. You will posses strong customer service and guest management skills as you will be participating in guest interaction and education programs. Experience working with guests of all ages and nationalities is a plus. You must be able to work efficiently in a team-based environment, and maintain good communication with all departments within the company.

Job Requirements

•Must be able to do the above described work, and posses a good work ethic.

•Must have one to two (1-2) years working with marine mammals in a similar role, and a sound knowledge of marine mammal training and behaviour.

•Be physically fit and a strong swimmer in all water depths.

•Be able to work in harsh environmental conditions, such as direct sun light, heat and heavy rain.

•Strong customer service and public speaking skills.

•Must be able to speak, understand and read and write in English. Understanding of/or conversational skills in another language (preferably Chinese, Japanese or Korean) is a plus.

•Must have a tertiary degree (or diploma), preferably in biology, animal science, psychology or related field.

•Experience with disability programs and/or dolphin therapy programs in also beneficial.
