KEEPER VACANCY - BIRDS OF PREY & MAMMALS

Millet Falconry is looking for an experienced bird trainer and presenter to join our dedicated, friendly and loyal team of bird and animal enthusiasts.

This position offers the successful applicant the chance to work with a wide range of species of birds of prey and an ever-growing collection of mammals including Raccoons, Meerkats and Skunks, + range of reptiles and creepy crawlies!

About the position

·         Permanent - full time (40 hours per week) Generally 8am-5pm, 5 days a week. Some days will be longer than others.

·         Responsible to the centre manager and assistant managers

·         Daily tasks including everyday husbandry and record keeping, weighing the flying team, flying demonstrations, animal experiences with the public, keeper talks and animal training and enrichment.

·         Office/front desk duties - therefore representing the company, so friendly and welcoming mannerisms are required.

·         Weekend, Bank Holidays and School Holidays are working days.

·         Wage dependant on experience but competitive for the industry. Optional pension scheme.

What we are looking for from you!

·         A passion for birds of prey and animals, their welfare, enrichment and conservation.

·         Enthusiasm for working outdoors.

·         Experience in training animals - ideally birds of prey in flying demonstrations.

         Experience in using ZIMS desirable but not essential.

·         Deliver entertaining and educational commentaries.

·         Work well as part of a team, as well as being responsible and confident to work alone away from the centre occasionally.  Good time keeping is essential.

·         Experience in working with animals, especially birds, is necessary for this position.

·         Relevant qualifications are beneficial but not essential.

·         A full clean driving licence.
