Join our vibrant organization!

As an action oriented conservation charity, Marwell Wildlife’s desire is to connect people with nature. Through enthusing people about the wonders of the natural world we’re certain they’ll share our passion to conserve it. Our success relies on two key things. The impression we create through our 140 acre zoological park, Marwell Zoo, with its wide array of exotic and endangered species and the family of talented people we employ who share our passion and bring our vision to life.

A full time opportunity has arisen to join our Animal Management Team as a Senior Animal Keeper on our Primates and Small Mammals section.

We’re looking for candidates with a good understanding of primate and small mammal species’ biology, natural history, husbandry & welfare. We have exciting plans for our collection and exhibits, offering great opportunities for creative project and team work with a focus on animal behaviour, nutrition and enrichment where our principles of welfare are founded on the natural history of the species we care for. This post offers a fantastic opportunity to work with a range of species including Golden-Lion Tamarins, Siamang, Long-Nosed Potoroo, Two-Toed Sloth and White-Faced Saki Monkeys.

This role is responsible for supporting both the team and the Animal Team Leader and ensuring high standards of animal husbandry and welfare at all times whilst ensuring that all exhibits and facilities are maintained to the highest possible standards.

The successful candidate must possess current knowledge of issues affecting zoological collections and their contributions to conservation, science, sustainability & education.

Specialist taxonomic knowledge and experience in primate and small mammal species with a minimum Level 3 (ANC / DMZAA) or equivalent qualification in animal management or biological sciences is essential.

In return we will offer you support, training and continued professional development, not to mention a fantastic working environment!

Due to the need to drive park vehicles, candidates must also hold a full driving licence valid for the UK.

Closing date for applications is: 25th Mar 2021

Proposed Interview Date: 01 April 2021

Second Stage Interview Date: 08 April 2021
