Aquarist - Oban SEA LIFE Centre

The Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary opens a window into a watery wonderland, teeming with amazing sea creatures of astonishing variety. Nestling amidst the pine trees on the shores of picturesque Loch Creran, the Centre combines a spectacular aquarium with a busy rescue and rehabilitation facility for both common and grey seal pups.

The Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary is Scotland's leading animal rescue centre caring for dozens of sick, injured and orphaned seal pups every year. To continue this wonderful work we are seeking an aquarist to be part of the team.

In this varied and very hands on role you’ll be key to ensuring our displays are educational as well as world class, displaying Scotland’s beautiful creatures to the highest standards. Naturally cleaning will be a big part of your role to ensure our creatures are fit and healthy but you’ll also get involved in daily feeding, presentations to our visitors and rehabilitation of any rescued seals.

Joining us means you’ll be part of the Merlin Entertainments Group, the worlds second largest entertainments operator. Despite the economic downturn we continue to grow across the world with many new acquisitions and new sites in the pipeline, so rest assured your future is secure.

The Person

The ideal person will be a keen fish-keeper, with a good knowledge of both marine and freshwater systems. Experience within the aquarium or fish farming industry would be advantageous, but not essential, as full training will be provided. More important, is the drive and enthusiasm to develop your knowledge and skills and apply them appropriately. As part of a busy and small team, you must be well organised, physically fit and capable of working with others. A flexible approach to working hours is also essential as this is not a job with 9-5 hours

The Benefits
Being apart of the Merlin Entertainments Group there'll always be further opportunities to grow, develop and try new things – plus full and continuous support along the way. As you’d expect we offer an excellent package of benefits including:

• Free tickets for all Merlin attractions
• Discounts and special offers
• Pension scheme
• And more……

If you have what it takes, why wait………………………. APPLY NOW
