This is a fixed term post for 2 years.
An exciting opportunity for a Lecturer has arisen within the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences at our Brackenhurst campus.   The School is located in a 200-hectare estate near the attractive Minster town of Southwell.  There are fully equipped laboratories and a veterinary nursing facility as well as an animal unit and equestrian centre.

We are looking for an experienced lecturer who is enthusiastic and has a strong desire to teach and undertake research to join the successful animal and equine science academic team within the School.  A teaching qualification is essential. 
The successful candidates will have expertise in zoo housed species and will primarily teach on the animal science courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level.  Subjects to be covered (both in theory and linked practical sessions) may include but are not limited to:
·         Animal management, behaviour and welfare of zoo housed species.
·         Nutrition and health of zoo housed species.
·         Zoo organisation.
·         Research methods and data analysis.
·         Animal science laboratory practicals, animal handling and field work.

You will need to be motivated, organised and able to take responsibility.  Additionally you need to have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively with others.

Experience of course leadership and tutoring students is desirable.  Additionally this post will support the development of a new master’s course in the animal science area.

This post is strategically important in relation to supporting the research capacity within the team particularly leading up to REF 2014.  Consequently it is essential that applicants will be undertaking relevant research and presenting results at conferences and publishing in journals plus be eligible to be selected for REF 2014.
