We are currently looking for a passionate and experienced Head of Section to manage the elephant section, within Woburn Safari Park which welcomes 500,00 visitors each year.

Woburn’s Elephant Herd consists of 4 Adult Asian elephants and our elephant calf, which are managed primarily in free contact.

As Head of Section, your role will be to manage and develop a passionate and experienced team of Animal Keepers and Interns, ensuring that safe and efficient animal husbandry is practised at all times.

You will be responsible for the welfare of your team; our visitors and the animals within your area, monitoring and reviewing animal behaviour, keeping accurate records and ensuring that internal protocols and industry guidelines, such as the BIAZA and DEFRA are adhered to. As part of this role you will assist with collection planning within the section.

You will have proven people management experience gained within a Head of Section or Deputy position and will hold an animal management qualification.  Experience of working with elephants in a free contact environment would be an advantage.
You will also be required to hold a full current driving licence. 

The position is full time working 5 days out of 7. As this will include regular weekend and bank holiday working, a flexible approach to days / hours will be required.
