Fixed Term Zoo Keepers

Set in 25 hectares of tranquil surroundings, Hamilton Zoo is home to more than 600 native and exotic animals.

If you are a passionate conservationist and have the required qualifications, this is a great opportunity for you to work across all zoo operations and primarily be responsible for the care and advocacy of our animal conservation strategies.

The successful candidates will be motivated team players, with exceptional communication and collaboration skills that enable you to work seamlessly with others and support your team members.

You’ll need to have an understanding of modern zoo philosophies, and be very safety conscious. The role offers a variety of mentally and physically demanding challenges, so being energetic and fit is important.

You should have an understanding of the zoo industry as well as a BScTech, Certificate in Animal Management (captive wild animals) or similar qualification or experience. Previous experience in animal husbandry is a must. Experience with birds and ectotherms is preferred, and animal husbandry is a must.

We have two opportunities available:

A full-time position of one year - 80 hours per fortnight and includes a roster of working two out of three weekends.
A part-time position of one year - minimum 32 hours per fortnight, which includes covering every weekend.
