Since its opening in 2009, Yorkshire Wildlife Park has evolved to become the UK’s number 1 on-foot safari. We feature walkthrough exhibits that take the guest directly into the world of the animals. A dynamic centre for conservation and welfare, the park currently has over 400 animals across more than 70 different species. Unique, innovative and undergoing a period of continued rapid growth and development, Yorkshire Wildlife Park attracts over 750,000 visitors per annum. 

We are currently looking for a number of Animal Rangers to join our dynamic and energetic animal team with positions available in our Hoofstock, Primates and Presentations and Carnivore teams. Successful candidates will have a positive, ‘can do’ attitude and demonstrate a consistently proactive and flexible approach to work.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver talks and presentations throughout the day, engaging with guests wherever possible.
  • Feed, clean out and provide enrichment to animals.
  • Maintain accurate animal records.
  • Facilitate an exciting and memorable experience for our guests.

Candidate:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • To be considered applicants must be confident in delivering talks and presentations to audiences of all sizes on a daily basis.
  • Must be flexible and available to work during our peak times which include weekends, bank holidays and school holidays.

This vacancy has been posted out to the many thousands who read the popular Zoo Jobs Blog Page and then on to the 129,400 plus followers of the  ZooNews Digest Facebook Page. It is then immediately forwarded on to Twitter and then to Pinterest and Linkedin (8,000+ connections). Many vacancies are shared to individuals and groups. In short your vacancy will have the potential of reaching something in the region of some 80,000 plus people within 24 hours. Most of these people are working in a zoo environment, Keepers, Curators, Vets, Zoo Directors, Trainers, Aquarists and more.
