ayto Park Zoo is looking to recruit 2 experienced zookeepers to join our growing animal collection. Located just 30 minutes from Dublin, Tayto Park opened its doors in 2010 and continues to be one of Irelands most visited attractions, with over 700,000 guests per year.

We are proud members of BIAZA and EAZA and currently participate in 20 ESB & EEP’s. Having recently celebrated our 10th Anniversary, it is an exciting time as we plan our future growth and regeneration of the zoo.

 

An ideal candidate will –

  • have 2+ years paid experience working in an accredited zoological collection
  • be able to demonstrate that they have experience with small &  large carnivores and  primates.
  • Completed DMZAA or if successful be willing to complete it
  • be self-motivating and able to demonstrate that they can identify and prioritise tasks
  • be enthusiastic and have a broad range of knowledge in areas such as conservation, current zoo research, animal welfare and enrichment
  • be proactive and have previous experience with animal training
  • have excellent communication and presentation skills
  • have experience using ZIMS

 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity 

  • to be part of an enthusiastic animal care team
  • to progress their career by attending relevant, certified CPD courses courtesy of Tayto Park
  • to be involved with and contribute to in-house research projects
  • to work closely with Zoo Management and contribute to the future development of the zoological collection#
  • for organisational support for a candidate’s involvement in EAZA ex-situ programmes.

 

Other information:

This is a permanent full-time position. Working hours are 45 hours per week, working 5 days Monday to Sunday. The candidate will have 30 days holidays per year (inclusive of Bank Holidays). Salary is €27,900.
