The Bristol Conservation and Science Foundation have an 18 month fixed term vacancy for a part-time Assistant Crayfish Conservation Officer starting from September 2012 until 31st December 2013 to assist with all aspects of the ‘Crayfish in Crisis’ project. Primary roles will include routine crayfish husbandry of the breeding and rearing systems at the zoo and educational support for the schools’ crayfish roadshows. Additional responsibilities will include the care and maintenance of all other native species aquatic displays.
General aquarist husbandry skills, public speaking, meticulous record keeping skills and outreach experience are essential and a good knowledge of the natural environment is desirable.
Up to 22.5 hours per week, reporting to both the BCSF UK conservation team and the Bristol Zoo Aquarium team. The successful applicant must be flexible and some evening and weekend working will be required.
