DEPUTY HEAD OF
SECTION
(African Elephants)
Port Lympne Wild Animal Park has a vacancy for an experienced Elephant Keeper capable
of taking on the responsibilities and duties that the role of Deputy Head of
Section demands.
Applicants must have gained experience in all
aspects of elephant husbandry and have gained significant experience working with
captive elephants.
You will need excellent
written and oral communications skills, team leadership skills and the ability
to motivate and develop the performance of section staff. Strong organisational
and time management skills coupled with the ability to effectively manage the
working time of keepers on the section is essential as is a valid manual
driving licence.
You will be expected to
make appropriate short-term husbandry decisions regarding the feeding, movement
and treatment of elephants; assist the Section Manager to maintain the sections
records and paperwork; carry out risk assessments; and run the section in the
absence of the Section Manager.
Ideally you will posses
or be willing to obtain a recognised zoo qualification, be comfortable giving
talks to the public and have the confidence to represent the company in the
media.
