Folly Farm

 

Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week

 

Wage: Competitive rates of pay

 

Duration: Maternity Cover – 12 months starting November 2020

 

We’re looking for a practical, versatile, and enthusiastic person to join our zoo family for a 12 month maternity cover position.

 

As part of our team, you’ll need to have a can-do attitude, be adaptable and willing to learn. This is a physically demanding role working with large hoof stock including giraffe and rhino, but will also include cover across all zoo sections.

 

A typical day includes:

 

  • Undertaking the cleaning and feeding regimes for the allocated section(s).
  • Providing a high standard of guest service and engagement, delivering fun, educational public talks and feeding experiences.
  • Maintaining the enclosures and grounds to a high standard undertaking general tasks including weeding, planting, re-branching, painting.
  • Chaperoning our work experience candidates and students as part of our educational programme.
  • Working independently and as part of a team.

 

Our ideal candidate will:

 

  • Have practical experience within an animal care setting.
  • Qualifications to degree level in Zoology or a related field.
  • Have experience driving agricultural machinery.
  • Be hardworking, reliable and a team player.
  • Hold a full driving licence valid in the UK.
  • Have excellent communication skills to engage with our guests.

Hours of work will involve working weekends and Bank Holidays as scheduled.
